Two Lauderdale County savages have been arrested on separate incidents of sexual abuse of 13-year-old girls, officials said.
Authorities said Rex Dewayne Quillen Sr., 46, Lauderdale 31, Killen, and Jason Michael McCoy, 47, Royal Avenue, Florence, have been charged with first-degree sexual abuse.
The cases were investigated by One Place of the Shoals, the area’s family justice center.
Sheriff’s investigator James Distefano, who is assigned to One Place of the Shoals, said both men were accused of inappropriately touching the teenage girls.
He said McCoy was a family acquaintance of the child. He said the incident reportedly happened Oct. 30 at the child’s residence.
“McCoy was supposed to be having Bible study with the little girl, but apparently he was touching her inappropriately,” Distefano said.
He said a complaint was filed by the child’s mother. After being picked up and questioned, McCoy was charged.
Distefano said Quillen is charged with inappropriately touching a friend of the family.
Reports indicate the incident happened in July while Quillen was in a vehicle with the child.
“Apparently, it happened while they were stopped in the vehicle and he reached over and touched her,” Distefano said.
He said the case was presented to the grand jury. Quillen was recently indicted on the charges and then arrested.
First-degree sexual abuse is a Class C felony and is punishable by 1-10 years in prison, if convicted.
McCoy and Quillen are both out of the detention center after posting bail of $25,000.
