Former MP Eric Joyce Faces Prison Time For Child Porn Possession
DISGRACED former Labour MP Eric Joyce has been warned he could face at least a year in prison after he admitted having child pornography on a computer.
The 59-year-old pedophile was found with a 51-second category A clip — the most serious kind — that depicted ‘a number of children’ including a 12-month-old baby, Ipswich crown court heard.
The racist pervert said he had searched for indecent images of children while he was having issues with alcohol abuse.
Judge Emma Peters warned him offences like his are taken seriously ‘because such images fuel the abuse of children’.
She said the starting point was a year in jail but had yet to decide if this would be suspended. Former Army major Joyce, of Worlingworth, Suffolk, was a Labour MP from 2000 to 2012 and served as shadow minister for Northern Ireland.
He stepped back from Labour after a 2012 fight in the Commons’ Strangers bar where he headbutted two Conservatives and punched a Labour whip in the face.
He will be sentenced on August 7.
