A diabolical high school teacher accused of sexual misconduct after a relationship with a student has been found dead along with her husband in their North Carolina home in an apparent murder-suicide.
Police were called to the Huntsville, N.C., home of Emma Ogle, 63, at about 8 a.m. Wednesday after receiving a report of someone barricaded inside.
The Garinger High School teacher had been arrested last week upon accusations she’d had raped a 17-year-old student, reported WSOC-TV.
Her husband, Michael Ogle, 59, was a no-show at work Wednesday morning, WSOC reported. A relative who went to check on him saw Emma Ogle inside the house gripping a gun.
When police arrived shortly afterward after receiving a call of a “barricaded person,” they tried for more than an hour “to make contact with the person inside the home,” reported WTSP-TV.
They finally entered the home and found the couple dead of gunshot wounds.
Nearby Lake Norman Charter Elementary School was briefly placed on lockdown while police investigated.
Emma Ogle was out on $10,000 bond after an initial court appearance on charges of engaging in a sex act with a student, indecent liberties with a student, and a crime against nature, WTSP said.
