A registered child sex offender is back behind bars for owning a cellphone without permission and using it to create and collect objectionable material, including images of men abusing poultry and animals performing sex acts on men.
Michael John Kight, 25, is a registered child sex offender who has served time for arranging to meet a fictitious young person for a sexual purpose and distributing objectionable material.
He also has a history of breaching his obligations under the register, having been convicted as recently as July of owning a cellphone while banned from doing so.
He is now back in jail, after pleading guilty in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday to more than 30 charges.
Six charges related to breaching his obligations as a registered child sex offender, with the rest involving possession of objectionable material.
Police found two cellphones and a Chromebook on the degenerate when he was searched on June 8.
The devices were analyzed, and found to contain 60 images of bestiality.
The images ranged from men sexually abusing animals, including poultry, to animals performing sex acts on men.
The search history on the devices included phrases such as "teen+boys+beastiality" and "animalsexgay".
There were also objectionable text messages sent by this diabolical homosexual/pedophile from one of the phones, in which he detailed his sexual enjoyment of young boys and an interest in having sex with large dogs.
He told someone he wanted to walk in Wellington's Mt Victoria or Central Park to find a young boy.
He stated: "I don't care how young he is" and "he can cry and scream all he wants".
It is not the first time he has made similar comments.
In December 2016, a Grindr gay dating app user reported Kight to police after he used the app to graphically describe abusing boys.
He suggested the user join in and that they drive around to find a boy to abduct.
Police searched Kight's Palmerston North house on August 13, after learning he possibly possessed a cellphone – something he is banned from doing.
Kight was found in the bathroom, while a cellphone was found under a stack of toilet paper rolls.
A brief check of the phone found he was using Grindr and Facebook, and that he had two email addresses.
People on the register have to inform police about phones they have, and social media accounts and email addresses they create.
He initially denied owning a phone, but later said the phone found in the bathroom was his and that he had been using Grindr, Facebook and other social media sites.
Kight was placed in custody until his sentencing in until October.
