A white male from Portsmouth is accused of rape and possessing sexually explicit content of a minor.
Michael B. Zornes, 37, was arrested by the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office and booked into jail on May 29.
According to the sheriff’s office, the 911 communication center received a call from a cell phone repair business in Wheelersburg, stating that a white brute had come into the store wanting work done on his phone.
Deputies say the clerk observed images she thought might be child pornography and wanted the sheriff’s office to investigate the situation.
Chief Deputy Todd Miller said a deputy responded to the scene and was able to look at the cell phone in question. A detective then arrived to question the pedophile, which led the officer to believe multiple rapes and several sexual assaults had occurred.
After interviewing possible victims and reviewing evidence, police believe the white pedophile had been having sexual contact with a juvenile since 2017.
Deputies say at least one victim was taken to Adeana Medical Center in Chillicothe and was treated and released. Child Protective Services was contacted.
That resulted in the legal guardian signing a safety plan to keep the children safe.
The sex terrorist faces 30 counts of rape and 10 counts of pandering sexually oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person.
In June, he entered a not-guilty plea in court. The child rapist is being held on $9 million bond.
His pre-trial hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 16 in front of Judge Harcha in Scioto County.
