The diabolical white parents of a weeks-old infant who died of malnutrition in March face charges of Manslaughter in the First Degree, the Lebanon Police Department says.
Police and firefighters responded to a Lebanon home the night of March 28, 2020, in response to a 1 1/2-month-old girl who had died.
Detectives learned the infant died from "malnutrition and lack of care while in the care and custody of her parents," police said.
Officers arrested Shantell Ann Marie Swiercz and Kristian Ray Lee, both 23, for investigation of manslaughter.
First degree manslaughter carries a 10-year mandatory minimum prison sentence in Oregon under the Measure 11 sentencing law approved by voters in the 1990s.
Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to the case is asked to call Detective Chris Miner at (541) 258-4314.
